Those who have never been here are curious to find out what all of the fuss is all about…
The Geography
Off the Gulf of Thailand, Pattaya is really a quite large area. This is why people usually refer to its different sections. There is North Pattaya which is considered quiet and excellent for traveler looking for space on the beach. Then there is Central Pattaya which is perfect for water sports. South Pattaya also covers parts of the inland and this is where we find the famous Walking Street. Those who wish to leave the excitement of Pattaya City behind can look into the area called Jomtien Beach where the atmosphere is peaceful by the sea. Bangsaen is also a part of the Pattaya region and this is an area that is very popular among the Thais so it is more of a local tourist destination which could be of interest for the traveler looking to interact with the natives.
Accommodations
There is something for everyone in this region. Families enjoy hotels with all-inclusive offers that make it easy to enjoy paradise with small and big kids. Back packers can also find smart living in the shape of guest houses that are modest but very friendly and comfortable. The different Pattaya resorts are still developing and new complexes are emerging by the astonishing beaches. Depending on travel budget, one can choose utter luxury or go for something simple. Just remember that this is a popular destination and if you want to get the best living quarters you will have to book in time when you can also enjoy the early bird prices.
Getting There
It is easy to reach the Pattaya resorts. Once you get to Thailand, you can choose to go by train, bus, taxi or rent your own car at the Subvarnabhumi Airport. It shouldn’t take more than 1, 5 hours to get from the airport to Pattaya and the roads are new and safe to travel on. The street signs are also easy to follow since they sport information in English for tourists to understand where they are heading. Once you reach the Welcome to Chonburi sign you know that you are soon to experience the most amazing place on earth!
Special Attractions
It is not hard to find what to do in the Chonburi Province but you might find that time is limited when you see all of the possible attractions. Plan well ahead of your trip and make sure to pick places that will be suitable for you and your family. A great idea is to visit the Institute of Marine Science. This is a museum with an aquarium that reproduces the life as seen in the sea off the coast. A visit to the museum is a lovely start and a good choice if you are travelling with smaller children who might not be able to go on diving trips and see all of the species in their natural environment. Another lovely family attraction is the Khao Kheaw Open Zoo where you will meet animals like hippos and giraffes. When you are through cuddling with rare animals you can enjoy everything that the sea has to offer. This includes cool water sports, easy time at the beach, and of course, culinary experiences at the various restaurants that Pattaya has to offer. The sights, scents and sensations of the Pattaya region makes many describe the place as heaven on earth.
